Dear Prospective Buyer,
When our family of six re-patriated from Hong Kong, we chose this house at 13 Sherman Avenue in Summit for its ideal and safe location, walk to town and train, welcoming neighborhood and ease of maintenance. With my husband often traveling overseas, we installed a whole house generator so I would have peace of mind and comfort. Our two car attached garage allows for shelter from the rain, snow and heat as well as privacy and security.
Juggling kids is simple from this home being walking distance to Lincoln-Hubbard Elementary, the Middle School, and the High School as well as the private schools of Kent Place School and Oratory Prep. No more car lines and unexpected long trips back to school for forgotten sports equipment or lunches. Our children attended both the public school as well as the private schools with the close proximity allowing for those few extra minutes sleep before rolling out of bed. This location allowed me to be on-time to concerts, curriculum nights and sporting events rather than delayed and frustrated struggling to find a parking space.
The quick walk to the Mid-Town Direct train, Sunday Farmers Market for fresh veg, CVS for the immediate need prescriptions, a caffeine injection from Starbucks, Boxwood, or Dunkin or just meeting up with friends for a bite at Marigolds or Batavia. The wide selection of restaurants such as Fiorinos, Summit House, FIN, and soon to be open Bull & Bear Tavern offers and array of culinary choices. The proximity of numerous religious facilities allows for a reflective walk en route to services.
Our slightly competitive family also enjoys a good game of soccer, baseball, or GAGA with our “extended backyard” on the Lincoln-Hubbard fields. Who wants to pay New Jersey taxes when you can enjoy the privacy of our yard next to the field of dreams? Be it a pick-up basketball game, a four-square match, swinging on the set or just enjoying each other’s company, the laughter fills my heart with delight.
One of our favorite activities is “family movie night” in the huge family room with a roaring fire and surround sound speaker system; the greatest challenge being movie selection! The finished basement with entertainment area is also a favorite gathering spot for board games, music and debate.
We have filled this house with love, spirited conversations and most importantly joy. It has been a refuge from the stress of everyday life and a safe harbor. With many of the children now out of the house, we look forward to moving onto the next season of our life.
