Madison NJ is located in Morris County 23 miles by car, west of NYC on the Mid-Town Direct rail line. Madison is well known for its outstanding school system, diverse population, easy commute, and a great place to raise a family. Many of Madison's younger families have moved to town from Hoboken, Jersey City, and Manhattan, and commute daily to NYC on Mid-Town Direct. It takes about 55 minutes. There is plenty of parking reserved (for a fee) at the station parking lot for residents of Madison. And just Newark Airport is a 15-minute drive and makes Madison a favorite location for travelers and corporate relocation professionals.

Madison police and fire departments are both paid. The ambulance and first aid squad are both volunteers. Madison's infrastructure, including the artesian well water system and recreational parks and ball fields to the roads, electrical lines, and sewer system are all maintained by Borough employees.

The Madison Community pool is located on Rosedale Avenue and membership is open to all residents. Madison Little league baseball, soccer and football are all well run by volunteer coaches, many of who have played in Madison as children. All the ball fields are in excellent condition and well maintained. Each winter, a shallow field is filled with water and used for ice skating. The Madison YMCA has a wide variety of programs for children and adults alike such as swimming, basketball, gymnastics, fitness center, and many others.

Madison has 3 elementary schools, 1 junior school, and 1 high school. The school system is consistently ranked as one of the best. There is also a private Catholic School, Saint Vincents Martyr, for pre-K and grades K to 6.

The business district, referred to as Downtown, is thriving with a wide range of retail stores and shops. All stores in Madison are open late on Thursday evenings. Madison has plenty of restaurants and finding a great place to eat is easy. The restaurants in Madison range from 5 Guys Burgers and Fries to Il Mondo Vecchio which is known as the best Italian food in NJ. There are a couple of pubs and a few taverns too.

Madison is a desirable upper-middle to upper-class town of well-maintained properties, quaint tree-lined streets, and close-knit neighborhoods. The government of Madison is responsible and well run. Real estate values in Madison are higher than in most of the surrounding towns. Prices are stable and real estate in Madison has always been a solid investment.
